Growing up, Howard had a passion for music. He was a drummer in a band with some lifelong friends and for a short moment in time, he was a DJ at a nightclub. He owned many boats throughout his life, and some of his happiest times were spent on the water. Howard also took interest in cars. He was a car salesman for a few years and owned a couple of Corvettes over time. Later in life, he dedicated himself to building a 1958 Cherry Red Corvette from the ground up. Watching the classic car come to life was just as fulfilling as the finished product itself. He loved taking that Corvette to car shows and cruising around town with the top down, blasting music. One of his favorite traditions was driving on Sunday mornings to bring donuts to his grandchildren, seeing them run out of their houses with excitement brought Howard so much pleasure. He was fascinated with the game of baseball and softball. Playing the game himself even through early adulthood, he spent a lot of his leisure time watching the Texas Rangers, and full-heartedly shared this enthusiasm with his children, coaching them and showing them how to embrace the game with the same fervor. He was undoubtedly a hands-on father who unconditionally loved and supported his children in their every endeavor.
