Camilla Roberts King

May 29, 1942 – October 14, 2023

Camilla King, was a former Preservation member of the Grand Prairie Historical Organization. Her membership was gifted by her friend, Alice Ernst.

She was born in Loraine, Texas in 1942. Camila was a West Texas beauty queen and twirler who was known for her impeccable tasted and lifestyle. She attended McMurray University in Abilene where she was a sorority officer. Camilla was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, where she sang in the choir and served on many committees. She worked at Jefferson Junior High School and Century 21. She later became Vice-President for Independent American where she used her talents to organize and host galas and soirees in the area and finally retired from Trans Union. Camilla was a founder of the Grand Prairie High School Cheerleader Booster Club, a graduate of Leadership Grand Prairie, and an active member of The Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations.

Camilla is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruby Roberts, her brother Tom (Jerry) Roberts, and her sister Karleen Roberts. She is survived by her children; Michael Martin King and Whitney Leigh Smith and her husband, Thomas, her beloved grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
